Immediately After Your Session (First 24 Hours)

Your brows, lips, or liner will appear significantly darker and more intense right after the procedure — this is completely normal. The color will soften and fade by 30–50% during the healing process, revealing the true result after 4–6 weeks.

01
Apply Aquaphor
Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor to the treated area 2 times per day. If scabbing occurs, continue applying until all scabbing is completely gone.
02
Use Cool Packs
Apply cool packs to reduce inflammation for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Limit total cool pack use to 1 hour on the first day only.
03
Keep It Dry
Avoid getting the treated area wet for the first 24 hours. No washing, sweating, or steam exposure on the area.
04
No Touching
Do not touch, rub, or scratch the treated area. Your hands carry bacteria that can cause infection and disrupt the pigment before it sets.
05
Sleep on Your Back
Try to sleep on your back the first night to avoid rubbing the treated area against your pillow. A silk pillowcase helps reduce friction.

Days 2–14: The Healing Phase

During the first two weeks your brows or lips will go through several healing stages — darkening, peeling, flaking, and finally revealing the true healed color. This is all part of the process. Do not panic if the color looks patchy or too light during peeling — this is temporary.

✓ Continue Aquaphor Twice Daily
Keep the area moisturized with a thin layer of Aquaphor morning and night until fully healed. Do not let the area dry out and crack.
✓ Do NOT Pick or Peel
Never pick, peel, or scratch flaking skin. Picking removes pigment and can cause scarring and uneven color. Let the skin exfoliate naturally.
✓ Avoid Sun Exposure
Keep the treated area out of direct sunlight during healing. UV exposure on healing skin fades pigment and can cause hyperpigmentation. Once healed, always wear SPF 50+ over the area.
✓ No Makeup on the Area
Do not apply any makeup — foundation, brow products, lip color, or liner — directly over the healing area until it is fully healed (typically 10–14 days).
✓ No Swimming or Saunas
Avoid pools, ocean, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 2 weeks. Prolonged moisture exposure disrupts pigment setting and increases infection risk.
✓ No Sweaty Exercise
Avoid intense exercise for 7–10 days. Sweat introduces bacteria to the healing area and can cause pigment to fade unevenly.

Long-Term Care: Protect Your Investment

Semi-permanent makeup typically lasts 1–3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you maintain the results. Here is how to extend the life of your pigment:

Always Do This

  • ✦ Wear SPF 50+ on the treated area every day
  • ✦ Book your touch-up at 6–8 weeks post-procedure
  • ✦ Keep the area moisturized with gentle products
  • ✦ Schedule annual color refreshes to maintain vibrancy

Avoid Long-Term

  • ✦ Retinol and AHAs directly on the pigmented area
  • ✦ Prolonged, unprotected sun exposure
  • ✦ Laser treatments over the pigmented area (without consulting us first)
  • ✦ Chemical exfoliants on brows or lips
💡 Your touch-up appointment matters. Most semi-permanent makeup procedures require a touch-up session 6–8 weeks after the initial appointment. This is when we refine shape, fill any gaps where pigment did not take, and perfect the color. Do not skip it — the touch-up is part of getting the full result.

Frequently Asked Questions — Aftercare

Why do my brows look so dark right after the procedure?

Semi-permanent makeup always looks darker and more intense immediately after the session. The color will soften and fade by 30–50% during the 2-week healing process. The true healed result is visible after about 4–6 weeks. Do not judge the color until healing is complete.

Is it normal for my brows to peel and flake?

Yes — peeling and flaking during days 4–10 is completely normal and expected. It can look like the pigment is coming off entirely — it is not. A thin layer of epidermis is shedding while pigment continues to settle in the deeper dermis. Do not pick or peel the flaking skin.

What if my brows look patchy after healing?

Some clients experience patchy or uneven color after their first session, especially with microblading. This is normal and exactly why the touch-up appointment at 6–8 weeks exists. We fill any gaps and refine the shape at your touch-up. Do not be alarmed before you reach that appointment.

Can I wash my face after my brow or lip procedure?

Yes — but avoid getting the treated area wet for the first 24 hours. After that, you can wash your face carefully around the area. Keep water and soap off the brows or lips during the first 10–14 days of healing. Use a damp cloth around the area rather than washing directly over it.

When can I wear makeup after my procedure?

Wait until the area is fully healed — typically 10–14 days — before applying any makeup directly over the treated area. Applying makeup during healing can introduce bacteria and interfere with pigment retention.

How long does semi-permanent makeup last?

Typically 1–3 years depending on your skin type, sun exposure, skincare routine, and the area treated. Oily skin and heavy sun exposure fade pigment faster. Annual color refresh sessions help maintain the look between full applications.
